Suboxone managing cravings for cocaine?

Fireman loads of people have said the same thing on here. Recently a member even relapsed on alcohol in the early months after stopping Suboxone. Coincidence? Hard to say.

Also bear in mind that Naltrexone (an opioid antagonist) is used to curb alcohol cravings, so there’s is undoubtedly a link there. As long as those opioid receptors are plugged up, whether with an antagonist or something like Suboxone, you can’t get the same kinda pleasure out of drinking.

Welly I kinda understand what you’re saying. I went through a few periods of getting on Naltrexone or Suboxone only to find myself using amphetamines / cocaine because I still wanted to get high, and my DOC (heroin) wasn’t working. I think it’s different like you said. For me it was more about still wanting to get high.

Hey Ambernicole! Hope you have another good day today.
I’m really glad you’re not being bothered with cravings. I had mentioned it before because your first post said something about going backnto opiates & I interpreted that as a "craving." I can see how wouldn’t necessarily be the case. A craving would be more like that almost romantic desire for them, right? Where you were probably talking pure desperation to feel physically better.
I, on the other hand, have some beastly cravings! Which I hate! So, yes, you’ve got a lot of the battle for long term sobriety in the bag if you’re not craving!
I loved your writing about your softball days! I bet it would be therapeutic for you to go to a batting cage when you’re feeling not so hot!

Thanks for the reply. The only reason I chose the user name is because it’s one of my favorite songs by my favorite bands who did album about the recovery process but looking back you’re right, probably wasn’t a good idea.

Also, now that I’m not typing this on my phone, I wanted to correct this sentence from my previous post: "Next month is going to be one of the hoarders months of my life but I’m not quite sure if that’s something I should say to my doctor as a reason to be knownthat a second one." I meant: Next month is going to be one of the hardest in months of my life but I’m not sure if that’s something I should say to my doctor as a reason to of needing a second dose."

Everything you said was really helpful and I’ve thought about splitting dose but the thing is, I’ve been use to taking a full one in the beginning of my day for months now and I think I would most likely spend most of the day feeling like I should’ve taken more though its worth a try.

I will take your advice into consideration and ask for at least 2mgs at night to start with if not more. Luckily, insurance covers everything so I needn’t worry about costs.

Thanks and I will let you know how it goes soon!

TeeJay-

Just for the record, I’ve been around clinics in multiple states and most dose with liquid, some like BBoy said mix with Koolaid or some sort of juice before dosing but alot don’t. Everyone I know who has been on Methadone in varying stages of recovery has attempted to inject it at one point or another, myself included, few that I know personally soley inject their doses.

Did you switch to Buprenorphine from any dose of hydrocodone or like less than 100mgish of Oxycodone daily? If so, your tollerence was likely lower than the buprenorphine ceiling and you’re feeling the potent opioid effect from buprenorphine…Your tollerence will likely reconfigure to this rather quickly if this is the issue and likely within a day or two. You could try subtracting like 1mg from what you are taking or you could try to wait it out. Methadone has an extremely substantial opioid effect as well and again if your tollerence is less than the amount you take you are going to feel the differential opioid effect until your tollerence reconfigures. I’d not jump the gun, I’d give it at least a couple weeks before I would stop anything and switch to another opioid. Let us know how things are going!
