Hi Holly!! I’m Cara and I am new here too; I just started on suboxone this week.
I’m a single mom as well.. mine are 4.5 and 3 y/o. My parents do know I am on it, they knew about my addiction.. but, no-one else knows other than them, my doctor, counselor, and my estranged husband (we’d be divorced if I wanted to pay $2000+ for the paper saying so.. but that’s another story entirely )
I look forward to seeing you around here!

The only topical that works for me is called Voltarol Emulgel P …. Best place to get it is online from Amazon in the United Kingdom … A 100g tube with shipping is about 20 bucks … and Henry is ok that you didn’t go thru the Introductions Dept. You can get it in the US also for about 40 bucks …. Funny my knee just started hurting, Good Luck buddy , Mike

chaimeragiest,
It seems like you are having a bad experience with suboxone. That sucks. I agree there are some really shady sub docs who are in it for the money. In every profession there are people who are gredy, lazy, stupid, etc.
But like Amber said, not all sub docs are bad. I see mine for at least 30 min. He talks to me about many different issues. He wants to make sure i am doing other things besides taking sub to improve my life. He monitor my bipolarmeds and sends me to the psych if changes need to be made. He talks to me about quIttIng smokIng. He dId a gyno exam for me last year. I could go on and on.
My point is that some of us are really improving our lives while on sub. Im sorry you are not having this experience. Maybe you should take a look at how you could make changes instead of blaming sub or spending time being angry at sub.
Good luck.
(sorry for the typos….this phone sucks.)

Hi wisharer,
It is good to have a place like this to post how you really feel w/o being judged or having no one understand. That is why most of us addicts like this place. We all share the same messed up brain that has the defect of addiction. No one else really understands us so we stick with like kind and share whatever is bothering us or is making us happy.
This thing with your daughter…think back to when you were 20 something and how you’d take advice from your parents. If yours were like mine then we’d agree that they didn’t handle it quite well. Mostly it was denial. No parent wants to find out his/her daughter or son is using any kind of mind altering drug.
I am going to say just what was taught to me in college when I studied for my CDS. (Chemical Dependency Specialist) Be honest. Don’t preach, advise, or insist she do anything. Just tell her why you used and what happened as a result. Why did we use in the first place? 1) Curiosity 2) Damn, it felt good 3) All our friends were into it. Just tell her she has the same % of being an addict as you did. "The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree" as they say. By the time my parents really knew what was happening, it was too late. I had to find recovery on my own and it took many years of suffering (and plenty of good times too) but I eventually got there.
Sorry for the long post but my fingers just kept going. Be Honest. That is really the main important message.
Hopefully it is just curiosity and there will be no problems in the future for her.
