Starting suboxone on Monday… scared

I actually took the doctors word and waited the almost 72 hours before being seen. Only reason really was because I didn’t want to spend another cent on pills. I don’t really advise doing that.. I was also seen on a monday and that weekend was the longest 2 days of my life!

One thing you have to look forward to is a hell of alot of freedom! No more pills is going to open a huge amount of time in your life. You might expect to have some insomnia the first couple days.. I would also shy away from trazadone if thats what they decide to give ya for a sleep aid. It made me horribly sick for some reason.

Good luck and I think you will find a bit of self worth in this process, which is really great considering how much we beat ourselves down going through the addiction cycle. Continue to build on that self worth and you will be golden.

Prolonging your addiction ,for what reason?

I’m glad that you found something that worked for you. There’s no need to get insulting about other people’s choices for recovery though (ie, saying they are "slaves" to the pharma co’s or whatever).

I was on Sub for 2 years and now I’m almost 3 years off of it and doing great. I’m not the only one on the forum who has made the transition off of Sub successfully either. Others aren’t ready yet, or they’re using it for pain management, or they’ve decided that they’re just staying on it because it works for them.

Ibogaine looks very promsing as a treatment but as you said, it’s illegal and therefore inaccessible to many people. It also carries risks, including heart failure. Lately there has been a resurgence of interest in pyschedelics as treatments for addiction as well as other disorders. Studies are being done and hopefully some good will come of it.

Suboxone isn’t perfect, but it is so much better than some of the other options available for treating opiate addiction. Please don’t assume that we’re a bunch of ignorant fools up in here – most of us are very well read about these issues. And you are not the first person to come preaching about Iboga, we have several threads about it already detailing different members’ experiences with it – some more positive than others.

3rd day dosing question

I think you will be fine. If you start to feel withdrawalish before your second dose, just try to distract yourself for 20-30 minutes and it will probably go away. If it doesn’t go away and you’re feeling progressively worse, just take your dose. It’s not like you’re going to suddenly be throwing up or something, it comes on pretty slowly.

It will probably take a few days to get your correct dose figured out and get you stabilized, then you’ll be able to dose once in the morning and forget about it. Good luck.

I think so Johnboy docs gotta have some kinda intelligence to get to where they are.

But it’d only be relevant if you find your moods relate directly to your daily dosing. Sometimes us bipolar people are just moody anyway!
