Suboxone and Xanax – one down one to go. . .

I meant to say that my benzo taper was dictated by my doctor. I think this really helped me because I had no choice but to take the new lower dose every month.

Also, going cold turkey off of over 2mg Xanax a day for 3 years is not recommendable so don’t even think about it (not that anyone said to do that). You could have a seizure. It’s nothing like opiate w/d, it can kill u. I’m sure u know this but I am posting it anyways…

Xanax is like a Roxy, short-term hits quick.
Valium is a Suboxone

That is real encouraging right?

Good joke but this is so not true!

Ya I was taking full 8mg strips and tried to cutt in half one day. Didnt notice any diff so I stuck with it. You could take bigger dose in a.m. then smaller at night because the subs are very long lasting. I was also taking 3 doses a day and switched to two. I read somewhere that 3 doses was a waste of meds as your receptors already full of bup. If you can wait 30mins after you get that craving it usually passes. Alot diff then regular opiate. These dose changes might take couple days to fully adjust but better in the long run. Once your receptors are full of bup theres no amount of suboxone that wlll make any effect. Took me awhile to figure that out. Most opiates you can keep taking more for larger effect. You might be able to use one of those pain releaver creams like tylenol or naproxone. Should not effect your stomache if taken topical but check with dr. Most dr’s dont know much about subs except whatever they read on it. I’d like to find one that has taken it themself so actually know the ins and outs of it. Sometimes I think sub users know way more about it than any doctor that has no experience taking it. The ball works good, I replaced my computer chair with it. Having a strong core is the best medicine for a back injury.

Just a little update in case anyone was following or wondered. The day of and after the procedure was the best I have felt in over 5 years…I forgot what it felt like to not have a clouded mind. I waited an entire 36 hours after the procedure to take 2 mg. of Subutex…so all together I was off the subutex for almost 72 hours. I did not have any issues taking the medication, and found the 2 mg was very sufficient despite me being on 8 mg before all of this. I did have some muscle cramping and a bit of a runny nose before I took it. I secretly wished there was someway I could be knocked out everyday and wake up feeling normal and then not have to take the sub ever again.
I have come to the realization that I will most likely never be "normal again" without some sort of divine intervention.

One thing that has put my mind at ease for the decision I made, was I was told that pregnancy was not viable and I would have most likely needed a D&C anyways. Since I have had a healthy pregnancy and baby before, I have to wonder if the sub caused the baby to stop growing. I will never know.

I have been having tension headaches which cause migraines and jaw and neck pain for 4 years. I recently quit my job after a hospital stay for depression. When I got out I went to the doctor and was very wary of getting on vicodin again. I just couldn’t function and I hated the feeling. It’s been 3 months and I am taking 1 mg of suboxone a day. I am very sensitive to medications. I want to get off and am scared to death from things I’ve read. I need to know if I should just keep tapering down every few days? Will I really be sick for weeks? I have a 4 year old daughter and I hate that I put myself in this position. At the time the pain was so bad I’d do anything to feel better and get out of the depression that my chronic pain put me in. But the suboxone is causing stomach issues and I need to get off. I feel like such an idiot…I don’t know why I didn’t think it would be hard to get off. Any words of wisdom or encouragement would be helpful.

Thanks
Danielle

Hey Thumper,

That is great how it worked for you. Tramadol addiction doesn’t get discussed too much here. There are plenty of us who were addicted to it but in your case it was really bad.

I am glad the Suboxone worked for you just like it was meant to do. For now, enjoy the experience of not feeling any cravings or withdrawals. Sub is easier to taper from than tramadol. At least I hope so in your case.

Sometimes it’s good to be wrong. Thanks Sublaura for leading her on this one. You both Rock!
