It is so unbelievably fantastic that 1) You’ve been completely clean for 32 days!! and 2) that you could see a bottle of hydro and walk away!

I am not sure that I could have done what you did Jeaner. What an accomplishment! To have that kind of temptation so close to your hand and not steal any is a testament that you will succeed in following through with your recovery.

There will be plenty more temptations to come. Hopefully none as bad as this one. But it sure does sound like you have great resolve to kick this monsters a##.

Congratulations Jeaner. Please keep this thread going and going so all the members can see your success and that it can be done.

I think ur right on the $ yesterday i took my dose, then went to park, and ran some errands. I wasn’t drowsy at all, if anything it might have picked me up a little. Or i enjoy this beautiful sober life so much, I’ve forgotten about natural highs which is kinda how it felt. I’ve always had a problem with self motivation, that’s one of the reasons i would take lortabs, they gave me lots of energy in the beginning. I’ve learned my mind is more powerful than i thought and i think i can feel the energy and high naturally. Do u seem to get Amy more pain relief from lower than 8 mgs? I still take about 1200 mgs of ibprofen a week and would like to not need that much.

Off Sub, Sweating in my sleep like CRAZY!

I’m 3.5 weeks off Sub. I’m feeling great other than I am sweating every night…so much that I change my pajamas about 4 times before morning. It’s also a cold sweat (I’m freezing and have to layer my comforters). Is this normal? Because it’s uncomfortable and annoying and I’m wondering how long it will last and what I can do about it.

Hi KW,

dilaudid was my drug of choice and I tried to cold turkey many times but after a few weeks the PAWS would get to me and I would pick up again. I read your other thread and you said you are on 32mg/day injection. I was at about 20-32mg/day Insufflated depending on how much money I had. I have over 3 years now since I’ve had a dilaudid or abused full agonist opiates. I got on sub and started going to aa meetings and was able to change the way I think and act. After 2.5 years on sub 8mg I started to taper and am down to a very small microgram dose now, it hasn’t been bad like I expected. And since I am not rushing to get off, I plan on slowly going into the single digit micrograms which of course is impossible to do with dilaudid.

If you are considering cold turkey from your level, I would get into a detox. I don’t know where you’re at with dependence vs. addiction but some people who become dependant thru pain management etc.. can be fine once withdrawal is over but IF you’re an addict like me you will have to be vigilant for life.

Hi jmdear,

I’ve been trying to think of how to answer your post. I feel for you. I’m not sure how much help I’ll be as I don’t have Children yet and I didn’t have anyone completely dependent on me while I was going through it. I will say that if you taper down to a low level, it will not be as bad as you think at any given moment. It’s more the longevity of it but even then, that really varies person to person. I can tell you that I jumped on a saturday and only missed one day of work, the first Monday. I went to work everyday after that. I have an office job but still, my mind had to be "on" and I had to get up everyday and go through the motions. Some days were just easier than others but I did it. As a mom, I’m assuming you’re used to taking care of the kids whether you have a cold or didn’t get enough sleep? I think you have to be in that mindset.

There are tricks to making it easier. Music in the car while driving, music on your ipod while you’re waiting for kids at practice.. Advil. Clonidine. I would even suggest talking to your doctor about a short term sleep aid. Many people suggest OTC sleep aids but I used a benzo. It helped me and I was able to completely stop w/ out any issues but I understand that may not be the case for everyone. Hot baths after the kids are a sleep.. etc.

If this is truly what you want, I’m sure you can do it. The fear is worse than the reality, it’s just a commitment. You can message me anytime, if you want.

Let me know how you’re doing.
