With doctors like this, it’s no wonder there’s anger

What I don’t understand, Mr. Chaim, is why you show up here with such an obvious chip on your shoulder. As if we are going to form a mob and boot you out! Maybe it’s from the paranoia that you admit you have.

We have current topics in "Side Effects" on elevated liver enzymes, headaches, and joint pain. No one is living in a rose colored world. Sub has side effects that run the gamut from annoying to debilitating, depending on the person taking it. Some figure out and report that they can’t stay on sub. No one calls these people out for not staying on sub. No one here denies that sub doesn’t work for some people.

We have other sections on quitting sub. People spell out in detail their struggle to get off sub and stay off. No one censors them because they say withdrawing from sub is difficult and frustrating. We are honest on this forum. We try to speak of our own personal experiences instead of generalizing what we feel onto everyone else. We learn from each other and try to lift each other up. If you want to go hang out at subsux, go ahead and do it. Just don’t pretend that you were railroaded from this forum.

It seems that people with an agenda tend to make assumptions about how they will be treated here without even bothering to find out. But as long as you’re not attacking other people or presuming that your experience with sub makes you an expert over everyone else, you can get along here just fine.

I also, personally, find the victim-playing pretty distasteful. I’m sorry that you didn’t do your homework before you started taking the opiates prescribed by your doctor. When I decided to take opiates and again when I decided to be on sub, I did my homework. I knew before induction that there were side-effects, that the withdrawal process was difficult and potentially long. The information was very easy to find.

So feel free to stick around. You may be able to help someone by offering encouragement or advice. Maybe you’ll even learn something along the way. Just please don’t try to paint us as the antagonist in the story you’ve constructed.

Cheers,
Amy

Doctors writing so many prescriptions

I think a couple of things. Pain pill addiction often has innocent beginnings. Doctors who are often well meaning and who have difficulty saying "no" or leaving a patient in pain … would rather their patient walk out of the appointment happy and be ignorant of the potential future harm than deal with a patient’s unhappiness, or even tackle a patient’s drug-seeking behaviour.

You know what a good example to this is… What’s that called? Oh yeah… suboxone. Lots of doctors are happy to take cash, give you two minutes of there precious time, squeeze you in by double booking or tripling booking appts, ONLY give you the script after you make a cash payment, ARE YOU KIDDING ME. I would be a great dealer in this sense. I’ll give you 3 minutes of my time and pat you on the ass on the way out saying about how your doing great. But pay me first and then i’ll be nice. Under better circumstances this drug is allright. But as it stands it is so ridiculous. Honestly i’ve never seen such a gray area like this.

Lets be honest, we like Suboxone because it gets us high.

Feeling good is not HIGH , feeling energetic is not HIGH …. I used to assess how I feel a million times a day… Dr J. Has wrote a lot about this, try and stop this behavior of thinking about how you feel …. I still think about it , but only 1/4 of a million times… Try thinking another way, like how bad you are going to feel without Suboxone … I’m no rookie , I’ve been taking 2mg of Suboxone for 4 or 5 yrs now… There are NO other meds that do what Suboxone does , my receptors only love opiates, tried half a dozen antidepressants and they all made me feel like shit, I asked someone around here if they were going to have to bury me with my Suboxone, I can now answer that for myself ,YES
Happy New Year to all , Mike

Suboxone tablets discontinued

I was stunned when I read this. I haven’t heard word one about Tide pods being removed from the market, and it sounds like it is much more prevalent than Suboxone exposures:

Excerpt from article:
Ten minutes after a 20-month-old swallowed a laundry detergent packet, the child developed profuse vomiting, wheezing and gasping and then became unresponsive to even painful stimuli.

A 15-month-old who bit into a pack and swallowed a mouthful had profuse vomiting and, after arrival at a hospital, had to be put on a ventilator for airway protection.

A 17-month-old bit into a packet and then rapidly developed drowsiness, vomited, breathed the product into the lungs and had to be put on a ventilator.

Nanny state bullshit …

I think Kelly is right, it’s not so much the Nanny state as it is the lawsuit happy state.

And I KWYM about the kids outside thing. I remember bringing my son to a park when he was little, and EVERY kid had a parent there. When I was a kid we were all outside all day and our mothers got things done. Now it’s one more thing on moms to do list, because if you dare send your kid outside alone you are a bad parent. Confused
