I am 25 years old, and a on off heroin user, ive been on probation for almost 2 years now, and i only have a little over a year left, I have never once dropped dirty at all, i haver never been in trouble once on probation. However, ihave recently within the last couple months started using pretty chronically again, I want off of the dope so badly, but i seem just to be getting worse. and i was thinking about gettiing on a suboxone program, ( which i have done once before a couple years ago before probation). But my question is, will the doctor question me if i am on probation, if so will he/she let my po know somehow. I just dont want my po to know i am using again. Also will the doctor drop me, if its dirty will it matter? if i am just starting? i dont wanna drop dirty at the docs office and my po finding out….? Can someone please give me some advice, what should i do? I so badly want off the dope, i have my whole family behind me for support, I know i can do this ive done it before.

It takes time man. Highly unlikely that you have damaged your colon.

When I kicked heroin without Sub, I’d still have the runs a month or more after detox. It lingered, but it slowly got better. It was even worse with methadone. Exercise helps speed up the process I’m sure, because when I was in rehab and they made us do gruelling physical work in the hot sun every day, my post-withdrawal symptoms cleared up a LOT faster.

With your worry about permanent damage to your colon. Post-detox, it’s really common for people to be overly alarmed about their health. In rehab a LOT of people were freaking out about heartburn thinking it was a heart attack and they’d always be taken to hospital as a precaution. People would get the flu and acted like they were going to die. When resos would be taken to the hospital with such complaints the docs were like "another rehab resident?". I think they were used to such false alarms coming from there.

Maybe the anxiety from PAWS, plus the fact that after we detox we more aware again of our bodily sensations, that it can kinda freak people out a bit. Hypochondria is pretty common from the early-recovery anxiety. Question any assumption you come to about your mind / body in the next few months. Some people go as far as saying "don’t listen to your thinking" while in early recovery, because often it’s a bit out of whack.

Take care.

There is even a smaller one out now. The biggest problem for me, is that its very difficult to cut, therefore properly try to taper. Its good that it dissolves faster, but I could also see how we could feel that it wouldn’t work as well.

Question about tapering

Thank You so much for taking the time to help. I really appreciate it. I wish I had looked seriously at tapering. I just wasted most of my vacation and had I been prepared I think I could have made it. I should have taken less than 2mg but I was so shaky breaking them down was done quickly. I am going to try the liquid method, if I feel uncomfortable I am okay with that, just the lack of sleep really got me. I still have not slept more than a few hours in days. I think my biggest mistake was inactivity. It is just hard. I am going to try a slow taper and see how it works. I still have time off and I can plan much better this time. This forum has more information that is helpful than anyplace I have looked. Reading the successful posts has given me back hope. Thanks so much.

Not sure where to post this….

Just keep being positive Jonathan, while you’re waiting to hold reagan spend as much alone time with your wife as you can. She needs you right now. Preemies need special attention, so try to be patient while your angel gets herself ready to go home with you Smile

I love her name by the way!
