Total Joint Arthroplasty in Patients Taking Methadone or Suboxone Preoperatively for Prior Heroin Addiction: A Prospective Matched Cohort Study

Preoperative narcotic use has been associated with poor outcomes following total joint arthroplasty (TJA). The purpose of this study is to compare clinical outcomes of patients undergoing elective TJA while concurrently being treated with methadone or buprenorphine/naloxone for prior heroin addiction to a matched control group.
