Hey BK,
Those three pain meds you mentioned, MS Contin-OxyContin-Opana, are all wicked strong. If you took those BEFORE your surgery, you would just raise your tolerance and end up having a hard time getting adequate pain relief after the surgery. After my accident, I ended up addicted to pain pills. During my addiction to pain pills, I underwent 7 surgeries to fix/put my ankles back together again. The first several surgeries were performed while I was addicted to Vicoden and I had no problem getting adequate pain relief post surgery. The last one or two surgeries were performed while I was addicted to OxyContin and I was not able to get adequate pain relief post surgery. I had a Morphine I.V. drip where I could hit the button every six minutes to shoot Morphine into my veins and STILL was not getting any pain relief. If I were you, I’d switch to Vicoden before the surgery, then use the MS Contin-OxyContin-Opana post surgery. I’m sorry you’re having to go through this mess. This is one of those times where Suboxone seems to be more of a burden than a blessing. |
Thanks for your reply. Thanks for sharing your story and ideas too.
