Wow, we joined this forum about same time and our stories are
Very similar( also grew up with a stepsister named brenda)
. Anyway I have same condition, which has my lumbar almost destroyed
And this condition, Plus a ruptured l4-l5 is what took me from periodic
Vicodin to oxycodone.
I started sub about dec. 5. Holidays were just a fog as this
Does help with pain but leaves me feeling intellectually challenged and
Motivationally and emotionally bankrupt.
My oxy use spiraled out of control when I had surgical complications last spring
And my mother became neurologically impaired at the same time.
I had been stable for about five years prior but would find ways to get early
Refills and manipulate to get more than monthly supplies.
Had a collision with a relatively new doc. Who said he’d shut my
Oxy down and I flipped, and copied a script, fell victim to pharmacists
Who were just waiting and wanting to cause me problems, and instead
Of a warning, got a ride to county and a felony charge pending
Probation of 18 months.
I too feel strange at NA and brought it up, and you will find literature
Pamphlet that speaks to NA and medication. Bottom line is
You are ‘supposed’ to be welcomed if you have desire to stop using, which
Is the gist of sub therapy. But I too feel the need for pain control
Beyond OTC level, and yet want to cease the sub for the cloudy
Way it makes me feel.
Let’s work together since we have a lot in common.
