I wouldn’t suggest switching to methadone before trying sub again – it’s too difficult to induce from it to sub. Are you still on sub right now but still having trouble? I agree fully with Amber. I don’t think you suffered from precipitated withdrawals. If it were P/W, then you would have gotten violently ill pretty darn quickly after your first sub dose. You wouldn’t just continue to feel the withdrawals. In fact, I’d go so far as to say you’d know, without question, if it was P/W.
In agreeing with Amber, I, too, believe that you just need to up your dose as your tolerance has obviously gone up. If I were you, I’d take about 2+ mg more and see if that does it. If it doesn’t clear up all of your withdrawals, I’d add 1-2 mg from there. My point is you don’t want to raise it more than necessary, because that will only raise your tolerance more.
Oh and if you’ve stopped sub but haven’t taken any full agonist opiates, you don’t have to go thru a full induction again. And since we don’t think you suffered P/W, you also wouldn’t need to go thru a full induction again. It’s my opinion that you just need to continue on the sub, but up your dose until it addresses all of your withdrawals and cravings.
Lastly, allow me to stress once more than I’m NOT a doctor and this is just my non-medical, non-professional opinion based on nearly 4 years of experience and research about suboxone.
Good luck and do keep us posted on how you are doing.
