Thanks for putting my mind somewhat at ease.
I have had some bad legal experiences. Once I relapsed, got very drunk and kissed my sister-in-law. I kissed her once, didn’t restrain her or anything like that- most everyone was drinking. I wrote her and her husband a very nice ninth steppy letter, explaining that I’m an alcoholic, should have been going to meetings, will be a better brother-in-law, care about you both, blah, blah, blah.
The next I hear, the crazy B*tch has taken the letter to an overzealous DA and filled in the blanks in my letter with tales of horror. I had a warrant out for my arrest 400 miles away, in Kentucky, for "sexual abuse." Potential two year sentence in the State prison, registering as a sex offender, etc. You would think the DA would have better things to do.
I had to drive back and forth five times on "vacation.’ Once to be arrested and post bond, then to hire a top flight lawyer, then three court appearances. Eventually she caved to family pressure, and they have been on the outs ever since. Absolutely nuts.If this had been local, I would have been put on administrative leave, and the story would have been in the local newspaper. Fortunately, I found out before being picked up from my home, cuffed, jailed and extradited in the back of a cop car. The local sheriff was very sympathetic.
Fortunately, the whole thing was expunged, but only after a lot of time, money and worry.
So I don’t take anything for granted when it comes to the law! I am less worried, but am going to take a friend with me to get the report. My Doc already knows. I called his house the other day, and his office three times to see if I was being investigated. Paranoid? Maybe, but you never know.
