As most of you know, I’ve been on subonxone since June 2nd, so 4 months roughly… I was an alcoholic back in the day, but quit drinking for good in 2006. I have had the occasionall drink like on New Year’s or to celebrate something since then, but never more than one. About a month ago, my husband and I were kidless, she was staying the night with my mom and we went and got 2 22oz budlites and a 6 pack of Sam Adams Fall Harvest. Yum, that beer has a wonderful taste We drank the 22oz’s each and 2 of the Fall beers, so we each had an equivalent of 4 beers. Not bad. He didn’t get much of a buzz, but I did, but that’s probably because I’m a "light weight" now when it comes to alcohol. We were at home though and I enjoyed my buzz here, and went to bed. I didn’t feel bad the next morning or day at all so I really don’t think it had any ill affect on me.
Do I plan on making that a habit? No. I probably won’t have another drink until New Year’s, if I even do then. I don’t think drinking on any medication regularly is a great idea anyway, but drinking a few beers like we did that night was no problem for me, doing it here at home. I wouldn’t tell my doc about that though, he would just give me the speech about replacing alcohol as my drug of choice, but I think that depends on the person… I know for me, it won’t be a pattern. It was just a good time, spent at home, having a few beers with my hubby
