Hello everyone.

My name is Grady and I have been taking Suboxone for the past 2 months now after being on 10/325 Percocet for months and months. I have a particularly weak stomach and tend to vomit 30 minutes to an hour after taking most pain medication. When I’m in the hospital and on Dilauded, they have to give me Zofran simultaneously or I will get sick.

I know that each individual is different and what I do might not work for others, but I wanted to share the 2 ways I take my 8/2mg Suboxone strips.

I first started out by just putting the strip under my tongue and dealing with how disgusting I personally think it is. It was one of the worst, most disgusting medications I have ever had to take. I will never take it by itself ever again. Since I have a weak stomach and most pain medication doesn’t agree with me, I need to take Dramamine or if I’ve been prescribed Ondansetron, I take that. Recently, I have found Emetrol, it’s another type of Anti-Nausea medication that’s over the counter. The Emetrol works wonders and is fairly cheap as well and available all over the place.

Back to how I take Suboxone. Because I hate the taste and I was afraid of the severe nausea that goes hand in hand with pain meds and my stomach, I started taking the Emetrol SIMULTANEOUSLY with the Suboxone. I would put the strip under my tongue, and pour a tiny amount of Emetrol over the strip under my tongue and let it sit for 10-15 minutes until fully dissolved (sometimes I need to work the strip around with the tip of my tongue) and then swallow. After swallowing, I would then take another 1-2 teaspoons of the Emetrol and I would be fine. Always lasts 24 hours, haven’t had a need for anything else(other then my Gabapentin). I guess the only thing I was wondering is if there’s any harsh side effects that I’m unaware of by mixing the 2 medications. My Pain Management doctor says it’s fine but he’s never heard of someone doing what I just described and wants to be updated constantly.

RECENTLY, I ran out of Emetrol and was too weak to drive to the store to pick some up. Since I can’t handle the taste, I was looking around my kitchen for something to help when I suddenly though of, "Mary Poppins & a spoon full of sugar". Don’t ask me why lol… But I grabbed a bowl of sugar, placed the strip under my tongue and put about a half a teaspoon of sugar over the strip just like I would the Emetrol and did the EXACT same thing. The taste is AMAZING!!! Way better then the Emetrol lol. And surprisingly, I’m not nauseated.

So, to be clear and just in case if you don’t want to read my ramblings… Here are the 2 ways I take Suboxone:

1. Place the strip under my tongue with a teaspoon of Emetrol until fully dissolved(10-15 minutes) & another 1-2 teaspoon(s) of Emetrol after swallowing to ensure I don’t vomit.

2. Place the strip under my tongue with a, "Spoon Full of Sugar" until fully dissolved & another teaspoon of sugar after swallowing. Just because I like sugar… And for some reason, I don’t get nauseated. Best part of all, sugar is everywhere and it’s really cheap!

Both methods allow 24 hours of relief, with the help of Gabapentin. Again, everyone is different and I urge you to speak to your doctor before trying ANYTHING you read on-line. But this works for me.

I would appreciate ANY input from ANYONE.
