PLEASE HELP ME GET OFF !

Hey divxclub,

Welcome to the forum!

Tapering is usually the best way to get off Suboxone and with where your dose is at, I’d suggest you cut your daily dose by about 10% at a time. You could take about .5mg off any one of your 4 daily doses and start there. Once you cut your dose down, stay there for a week or so or until you feel stable again, then cut your daily dose again.

I never did taper, so these numbers I’m throwing out are just general guidelines. Hopefully someone who has tapered will swing by and give you their approach.

HOOOOOOOly shit girl you rock! I’m so glad that you are doing good! Sometimes…. I get scared that the sub is actually producing more side effects than helping. I just say that because I know you’re in a good mood right now and have a sex drive, and I was wondering if you ever got in that mood while on suboxone? I just ask because I’ve been so depressed lately, and I’ve always taken opiates to get in a good mood to do anything. I couldn’t even have sex unless I was high, and if I was high I couldn’t go all the way. I needed opiates to get modivated to do schoolwork , yet they may me too tired to focus or remember anything. What do you think? Do you think your subs were giving you some side effects? I know that it is hard being an addict and staying off the dope because you want the rush, but I’ve been reading that the suboxone since it sticks to your receptors and blocks stuff that it also blocks the things your brain makes that it releases when you do something good and it tried to reward you but the sub won’t let you feel the chemicals. Knowing this could really help not go back to the stupid subs. I’m really proud of you for having such a possitive attitude, because this is what really helps in the withdraw days. Keep up the awesome work!

Will430,

I can understand your disappointment with people not wanting to get off of Sub/Bup, but keep in mind that originally this was a pro-Suboxone site and in some respects, still is. We have learned a lot more about Buprenorphine these last few years due to all of our experiences in taking it. And of course this thread is over two years old and a lot has changed since its first post.

For you to start calling people names because they choose to stay on Bup is very childish, and also very dangerous. Addicts make an informed decision with themselves and their doctors whether to stay on it or risk relapse. Do you not read the statements from people like TJ who lost some friends because they just had to get off of it? They end up relapsing and dying. So to me your name calling is dangerous. Some are just not ready to get off of it and may never be. As human beings we have a choice. We all know ourselves better than anyone else, and should know deep down if we’d slip back to addictive habits like before.

Your choice is yours and yours only. Let us make our own.

And just one more thing. There is suggestion by Dr. J to refrain from name calling. Please abide by it.

Congrats!! Everything sounds like it went great!!
What you say is true, you cannot untake a dose but another thing about sub is that its always best to take the same dose everyday.. its not good to take different doses depending on how you feel, after all thats what we did during our addiction. Also, if youre on a stable dose its gonna be alot easier when you start to taper. Taking more meds whenever you feel the need to is addictive behavior. Other than that everything sounds like its going well.. I wish you the best in your recovery.
