When I was in treatment, I had a guy who’s girlfriend of several years stopped seeing him because she simply could not accept that he was an addict. Here culture had quite a bit to with he decision, as she was unable to not view using as something other then a "sin".

This same belief also prevented her from ever suspecting that he was using, even when it was very obvious. It is a form of denial.

You will get through this and you be a better person. Maybe in the long run it will be for the best. I am sure it is hard to see it that way now. Sometimes certain relationships and recovery just cannot coexist.

best of luck

Doctor sent urine to lab, Cigna billing me $974.70

Urine screening companies make a killing off of us. Plain and simple. I was randomly screened for a year (by choice) and it was pretty costly.

My doctor uses a drug testing company that ONLY charges what the insurance is willing to pay. So, that tells me that it is more the enough for a company to make a profit with what the insurance pays. Places like Labcorp are just charging us because they know they can get away with it.

Frickin Insurance and Medical Companies in cahoots. Always, Always, Always request itemized billing whenever you can and review it. You get charged for services you do not need quite often. Its the worst when you are in a state with only one or two insurance companies. This is supposed to be addressed in a few years.

Sorry for the rant, a few years (pre HCR bill) I had to drop down to a PPO and pay more for it because insurance was becoming to costly for my non-profit. I’d think BCBS makes enough, but they always got make that extra billion or two. Thankfully they cannot use addiction as a pre-existing condition anymore.

UPDATE ON HIV POS RESULTS

Hey Cryon. You’re a battler. If you can stay off the gear for 2 years with no Sub using your will power, you can push through this challenge.

I know how it feels to get nasty blood test results. My HepC just relapsed after 6 months of tx. I know how hard it can be at first to accept how things have changed. Worries about stigma and people distancing themselves. Thankfully these days the HIV fear mongering has calmed somewhat, at least in my part of the world. It’s nothing like it was in the 80’s and 90’s when every 2nd news story was filled with disinformation about it.

And there are heaps more support groups and ways people can link up and speak out, even over the internet… so you have people if you ever feel isolated.

I’m sure you’ve been clued in about how HIV meds have improved. My ex-sponsor was 60+ years old and was HIV+ since the early 80’s, and he was a great sponsor who helped many people. Though we did have an argument about medications once, but that’s another story.

Anyway, stick around, and good luck. You’ll know when to open up and when to keep it dark. I think a lot will come down to hanging around supportive people.
